As the awards season comes to an end with the biggest night in film on the planet, where the best of the best flock to LA. Walking the red carpet, attending the most exclusive parties, and if they’re lucky, they get to watch it all go down at the DolbyTheatre. Last night, Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 2024 Oscar Academy Awards and let us tell you, the real winner of the night was not any of the film industry folks in attendance… it was TEQUILA.
Tequila stole the show at the 2024 Oscars
But not just any tequila… Anejo, but more specifically: Don Julio 1942.
While Jimmy Kimmel was hosting the Oscars, early on in the evening, his sidekick (who presents himself as his parking lot security guard) Guillermo, popped up in the audience to say Colman Domingo (who we might add, was looking dapper), nominated for Best Actor for his role in ‘Rustin,’ needed a drink. And rose to the occasion to raise a toast alongside with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 in hand and a Margarita in the other.
Guillermo then handed Domingo a drink, which was revealed to have been made with Don Julio 1942 Tequila. Then Guillermo revealed that he had, allegedly, brought tiny bottles of tequila for the celebrities and audience members to toast with.
“I love you Jimmy, and I love tequila,”
Guillermo, Parking lot security guard for Jimmy Kimmel
“I love you Jimmy, and I love tequila,” Guillermo said during his toast.
As you see other celebrities around him raise their tiny “chaparitto” bottles with straws in them (as Don Julio refers to them in their social post, embedded below), to toast.
“And another toast for America Ferrera and Kate McKinnon,” Kimmel added before drinking his tequila.
But that’s not all the face time, Don Julio 1942 got during the Oscar weekend festivities. They also partnered with CAA Latino to Celebrate Latino Excellence in Film Industry over a luncheon with America Ferrera and Carlos Eric Lopez.
As well as partnering with Vanity Fair for their coveted Oscar’s afterparty.
And the Elton John AIDS foundation viewing party.
Our predication is in: Don Julio 1942 is about to get even harder to get…
Despite the fact that it was already hard to get, because stockists (like the LCBO in Ontario) just cannot seem to keep it on the shelves, now with all the hype this will generate, we have no doubt it will get even harder.
So while you still can, stock up. But make sure to grab a “chaparrito” bottle too (a mini), just like the ones from the Oscars–because you were there, right? 😉
