The culinary world is huge in Los Angeles and like many other food capitals in the world, it was hit hard by pandemic restrictions. Restaurant owners and chefs took this hiatus as a way to go back to their roots and rediscover their love for food. It’s safe to say that this time away was exactly what the community needed because now eateries around Los Angeles are thriving.
Over the past few months they’ve seen a series of new restaurant openings designed to reignite a passion for L.A.’s diverse cuisine. Los Angeles Tourism has put together a list of the newest restaurants and concepts to take a bite out of during your next trip to the west coast.

Citizen Public Market, Culver City
Launched in November 2020, Citizen Public Market is the city’s newest food hall with an open-air rooftop patio. It keeps eaters on their toes with a slew of exciting restaurants being added to its roster. Highlights include the recent debut of Louella’s Cali Soul from Alta Adams’ chef Keith Corbin, and Pizette, the casual pizza-sandwich joint from chef Nancy Silverton of Mozza fame.

Get the SoCal experience while surrounded by art at Manuela, a garden-themed patio restaurant inside Hauser + Wirth gallery. This Art District spot has its own menu and revolving themes to keep things interesting.
The VTree Silverlake
What initially started as a pop-up, VTree Silverlake became a permanent fixture on Sunset Boulevard with a brand-new location for its vegan soul food. Led by Chef Velvet, a sought-after celebrity chef and co-Founder of “Vegan in the Hood”, the restaurant offers a one-of-a-kind twist on Southern classics. A popular menu choice is their Chick’n ‘n Waffles.
Pizza just got a little bit cooler. The daughter of Jam Master Jay, Tyra Myricks, and the daughter of the late Christopher Wallace (aka The Notorious B.I.G), Tyanna Wallace, opened Juicy Pizza this past summer to give L.A. a taste of New York City-style pizza.
Girl and the Goat
Top Chef alum Chef Stephanie Izard travelled west for sunny skies and fresh California produce for the opening of LA’s Girl and the Goat. The Arts District location shares the global influence and bold flavours of its Chicago flagship, but the culinary team is also crafting new dishes inspired by local flavours.
ALMA Cocina de Mexico
Mexico’s Grupo Hunan is making its U.S. debut with ALMA Cocina de Mexico. The restaurant will feature the best of Mexican flavours within a traditional hacienda atmosphere.
Chef Lincoln Carson, formerly at the helm of Bon Temps, is making his comeback with Mes Amis. Located in the newly opened Thompson Hollywood Hotel, the restaurant aims to put a California twist on French classics.
