Icewine on its own
Icewine is magical, and serving it on its own is one of the most amazing ways to give it the attention it truly deserves. Enjoying any type of Icewine (Riesling, Cabernet, Vidal etc) on its own requires a perfect glass and slow sipping. It’s a great way to enjoy the moment and remember to take your time. Drink it from the custom Riedel Icewine Glass or your favourite shot glass or scotch glass. Serve it chilled and pour about 2 ounces for perfect sipping pleasure.
Icewine with Dessert
Icewine and dessert were made for each other. Indulgence doesn’t get any sweeter. The rule of thumb is that Icewine should always be sweeter than your dessert – this is typically easy to do as Icewine is pretty darn sweet. Here are a few easy pairings – Love crème brulee, sip Vidal Icewine, enjoy butter tarts, sip Riesling Icewine, prefer something light, perhaps an angel food cake with strawberries this will pair perfectly with cabernet Icewine.
Icewine with Cheese
Love both savoury and sweet? Me too. Next time you’re craving cheese and wine, open a bottle of Icewine. Not only will it last longer in the fridge (just keep it closed tight and it will last a very long time), but it will be the perfect accompaniment to all of your favourite cheeses. Try one of my favourite new rich French Cheeses Mimmolettee with apricot Jam with Riesling, it’s pure decadence. Opening a bottle of Vidal Icewine, grab your favourite Gouda open some marmalade and enjoy. Craving Cabernet? Pair with blue cheese and strawberry Jam. This fun pairing is so enjoyable you won’t want to share – unless it’s on Instagram!
Icewine in the Kitchen
A bottle of Icewine is also a great ingredient to have and use in the kitchen. With us all spending more time in our kitchens, Icewine is a versatile and fun tool and addition. Use Icewine in the making of your favourite desserts and brunch items, in reductions and sauces and even salad dressings. It’s a great way to add a touch of sweetness to just about anything!
Icewine in a Cocktail
You heard it from me first, pour yourself an ice wine martini and add frozen grapes as the perfect garnish. An Icewine Martini is made with vodka and Icewine, whatever combination you wish, shaken, stirred or on the rocks. You won’t ever forget it.
