Beat the Heat with Ontario’s Best Summer Beers of 2021

As heat waves continue to roll across Canada, even sitting out in the backyard is getting unbearable. One of the best ways to beat the heat on a Saturday afternoon outside, is by cracking open a refreshingly cold brewski. Picture it: the sound of the can cracking open, the beautiful foam rising as you pour into a glass, the cold condensation sweating off the glass. Is there really anything better? With an array of Summer beers to choose from, your options are endless.

Whether you are looking for a Cider, Radler, Lager or Ale there’s something on this list for you. Summer beers are typically hoppy and fruity, or light and refreshing with a low-ABV. Here are our favourite Summer beers of 2021.

Great Lakes Beer – Sunnyside Session IPA

If you live in Ontario and have never heard of Great Lakes Beer, you’re missing out. This witty, eclectic, home-grown brand produces some of the best craft beers on the market. Their Sunnyside Session IPA is no exception to that. This citrus-based beverage is loaded with the smooth flavours of lemon, pineapple, and grapefruit. Perfect for a day at the beach!

Stiegl – Raspberry Himbeere Radler

Stiegl Radlers aren’t new to the market, but their new Raspberry Himbeere flavour certainly is! Having launched this Summer in Ontario, this fruity beverage is made up of 40% Stiegl Goldbräu and 60% Raspberry fruit soda. This vibrant tasting beer has a very low ABV, making it the perfect beer for Summer.

Collective Arts – Guava Gose

Collective Arts has been gaining popularity in recent years, and is now known for their unique brews and epic artwork. I first came across the brand during one of their local artist campaigns, when you can submit original artwork to be featured on a Collective Arts can. If you are looking for a Summer beer that packs a punch, Guave Gose is a sour mashed wheat beer loaded with guava. A must-try for this Canadian Summer.

Corona

While I completely appreciate introducing the word “Corona” into our vocabulary again may be a little triggering, it still doesn’t change the fact that it’s one of the most popular Summer beers in the world. And with good reason. It’s crisp, light, and easy-drinking. And you know what they say, just add lime!

Spy – Crimson Tide

Spy Cider House has a few flavours of cider to choose from. My favourite, is the Crimson Tide black currant infused apple cider. Available in cans or jugs, they are perfect if you’re looking for a light, sweet beverage for the Summer.
