The coveted first long weekend is here where Canadians will rejoice in the unofficial start to our much anticipated summers. The winters are tough on all of us and with the pandemic, it has been even tougher. So let’s put that behind us now and look forward to sunnier “road-trip-filled” days ahead. If you’re looking for

Here’s Your Road Trip Guide to Having an Epic Weekend Getaway
1. Rent a Convertible
We want to be outside every chance we get – I know I do – especially after being forcefully cooped up in our homes for so long. A good way to do this? Rent a convertible and turn the long boring drive into a tanning experience through the scenic, elongated routes of the back roads. Not only will you soak in the elements, but you can take in the beautiful scenery around you and lose your cares. So close your eyes (unless you’re the DD), turn the music up and lose yourself in all of Summer’s glory.
2. Don’t forget the Essentials
I know you can’t wait to shut down that laptop, throw on your tank top and head the ‘F’ out! There’s nothing worse than getting to the beach and realizing you forgot your Bluetooth speaker. We’ve all been there. So here’s a reminder of some essentials you’ll need. And even if you forget everything else, I think you’re still in good shape to have an epic weekend!
Charger
As much as I want you to stay off your devices and fully submerge yourself in nature, let’s face it, you’re gonna need a fully charged phone. How else will you capture those insta-worthy hiking moments and impromptu TikTok videos with your crew? And there’s always that one person who forgets theirs.
Bluetooth Speaker
Cause you can’t create a vibe without music, right?
Drinks
Staying hydrated is key to any good trip 😉
Snacks
Food is life – now it’s time to turn your cheat day into a cheat weekend. Don’t worry, we know you’ll off-set it with all the outdoor activists you’ll be doing.
Bathing Suit
Even if you don’t plan on going to a lake or pool, you just never know when that glistening, blue body of water will cross your path and tempt you. Don’t fight it – embrace the invite and dive right in. You can check out our full list of road trip essentials here >>
3. Be Spontaneous
As the saying goes, there are better adventures ahead than the ones we leave behind. I know my desire for adventure has never been stronger. As we get older, the experiences we create become stories we tell. So go create those experiences and do things you wouldn’t normally do!
4. Find a Fun Crew
Finding good travel buddies can be tough, but when you do, it can make for the best memories. Choose your crew wisely, but don’t be afraid to pick the ones you normally don’t spend time with. This is how new life-long friendships are formed. And if last year taught us anything, you just never know when you’re going to need a friend by your side.
5. Embrace the Silence
When you can sit next to someone for hours without saying a word feeling totally comfortable, you know you have an unbreakable bond. Sometimes saying nothing is all you need to connect. Take in nature, feel the flow of your breath and take in all this world has to offer. It’s a great time to reflect and create the space to really think. Go deep – it’s quite therapeutic.
I hope you get to enjoy all that the outdoors have to offer this summer. Happy road tripping!
