With summer around the corner, I’ve only got two things on my mind: picnics and awesome cocktails. So when I discovered Montreal-based Cocktail Bomb Shop, I knew I had to give them a try. Not only that, but the brand is Canadian and run by a badass babe. Founder Kiana Gomes started by selling hot chocolate bombs in the winter but pivoted to cocktail bombs for when warmer weather rolls around.

The bombs come in all of your favourite cocktail flavours, including pina colada, peach bellini, margarita — You name it! Wondering how it all works? The bombs work just like a bath bomb so all you have to do is add your favourite spirit to a glass (no, they don’t contain alcohol, themselves) with any type of fizzy drink, pop in a cocktail bomb and you’re good to go. They even work for mocktails too.
The cocktail bombs are hand-made, vegan and eco-friendly.

Even the packaging is done with the planet in mind with a fully recyclable box and biodegradable plastic wrapping. Boxes start at $19.95 for four and $29.95 for six. You can buy all of one flavour or pick a variety box to try them all.
My first thought when I got the bombs were, “Wow, these smell unbelievable!” And that was before I even opened the box… When I finally did open the sweet-scented delivery, the bombs were even cuter and more vibrant than I had imagined. With a clear indication of which colour was which flavour and even clearer instructions, I chose my flavour (I’m a margarita gal, myself). After waiting a few minutes for the bomb to fully dissolve, I gave it a sip and was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn’t as overpoweringly sweet as I initially thought it would be. It was the perfect balance of sweetness and flavour, without giving a sugar rush or that sharp zing that an overly sugary cocktail can sometimes have.

Although you don’t have to use a bubbly drink, I definitely recommend it. It’s like a drink and a show! Still water will dissolve, but will take slightly longer and won’t have quite as strong of a reaction. As for the alcohol, you definitely don’t need to add any and it still makes for a totally refreshing virgin drink, too. This is the perfect thing to bring on a picnic (hello, picnic-envy!) or a backyard hangout with your bubble.
