Headed to the birthplace of democracy with a plant-based diet? Don’t worry, I’ve got you! Not only is Greece full of delicious, authentic food but they also have plenty of vegan options. When I say vegan options I don’t mean a boring salad or plate of asparagus, I mean full, balanced and tasty meals. I travelled through Greece over the summer and was able to gain the full vegan experience. I think I can confidently say that the food in Greece was some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. Have I sold you on your next travel destination yet?

Here are 5 vegan restaurants in Athens you have to check out.
Vegan Beat
I could not believe how good the food at this little vegan spot was. Located right in the heart of Athens, Vegan Beat had spiralized potatoes and authentic gyros that were to die for. Did I mention you can have an entire meal for under ten euros? I’ll be dreaming of this spot for the rest of my life.
Cookoomela Grill
Are you looking to experience some vegan souvlaki? Look no further. This hotspot had my stomach smiling for days. They use mushrooms as their plant-based meat alternative and I am totally here for it.
Veganaki
You need to try the falafel at this vegan gem! Not only can you bite into vegan heaven, you can also enjoy a nice drink with a variety of different plant-based milk options! I’m a huge potato fan and this place had me considering placing another order.
Vegan Only Pizza
Looking to switch it up a bit? Although I’m an advocate for enjoying local, authentic cuisine while travelling, it’s only fair to want to eat something different. Vegan Only Pizza is a delicious pizza spot in Athens that is sure to have your mouth watering. Hey, if you’re not sure about switching it up, this place is located in the same place as Vegan Souvlaki! How convenient is that?
Happy Blender
Let me start by saying this place is SO GOOD that I went back twice. From plant-based ice cream to Beyond Meat to Greek avocado toast (with vegan feta!!!!), Happy Blender was my happy place in Athens. The location is perfect for exploring and the vibe is on point.
