Pizza is great, good pizza is even better, and excellent pizza is the best. Vancouver is home to many different cultures, and boasts authentic, and classic “Vancouver fusion” eateries that span many cultures and countries. When in doubt of what to order in, takeout, or make at home, I tend to go for pizza because it’s simple, and easy to customize to fit everyone’s dietary restrictions or preferences. Pizza comes in many forms, from the traditional Neapolitan thin, wood-fired margaritas, to Chicago’s deep dish, to New York’s swoon worthy slices. There is a pizza for every occasion.
Vancouver is home to many great pizza restaurant and it can be difficult to choose. Date night, family dinner night, any night makes a great pizza night.

Here are five pizza restaurants, in no particular order, around the Lower Mainland to check out
Ludica Pizzeria and Game Room
What’s better than pizza night, and game night? Both! Ludica offers a wide selection of board games as well as delicious, thin-crust pizzas baked in a stone oven and made to order. With options for everyone, Ludica’s dough is vegan friendly, and they have a gluten-free crust, and vegan cheese available as well. For an extra dollar, any pizza on the menu can be made into a calzone.
Virtuous Pie
Completely plant-based, non-vegans will also fall in love with Virtuous Pie’s fresh and innovative pizzas, and their small-batch made in house dairy free ice cream. While Virtuous Pie have several locations around the Lower Mainland, Victoria, and in Portland Oregon, the quality and consistency never disappoint.
Pasta Amore Pizzeria
You know an Italian restaurant is good when Italians eat there. Inspired by the backbone of Italian food, simplicity, quality ingredients, and love Pasta Amore is authentic, reasonably priced, and the place to go. Made in a wood-burning oven, Pasta Amore does classics such as margarita or Napolitano pizzas, as well as more Canadian-Italian pizzas such as 4 formaggi (four cheese) and of course, Hawaiian. Their Nutella dessert pizza is great both warm from the oven, and cold the next morning.
Uncle Fatih’s
The pinnacle of Vancouver-ified food, Uncle Fatih’s large slices are a blessing for any Vancouverite whose had a late-night and is looking for something that’s open. Uncle Fatih’s boasts by the slice, large-pan pizzas, as well as made to order ones for a great price. Comforting and casual, Uncle Fatih’s has been a Vancouver staple since 2004.
Via Tevere
Named after a street in the heart of Naples, Via Tevere is as authentic as pizza can get while still being in Canada, and not Naples. Made with love and passion, Via Tevere boasts fresh, handmade pizzas that encompass the rustic, simple, warmth of Pizza Napoletana. via Tevere also has a food truck, that makes Neapolitan Saltimbocca, which translates to “pizzeria sandwich”. The bread is baked in their 900 degree woodfire oven, meat and cheese is added, then the sandwich goes back into the oven and is finished with fresh tomatoes and arugula.
