The word “travel” may not be one that has crossed your mind over the past few weeks…or months…or even year! Although 2020 has brought forth challenges and uncertainties, our desire to travel and experience the beautiful world around us must not fade! I have travelled despite the current pandemic and gathered all of the resources needed to plan the perfect covid-19 proof Canadian trip.
The most difficult part of organizing a trip amidst these times is finding all of the necessary information required to travel without any hiccups. So now that you’ve picked your Canadian adventure destination, let’s dive into what your new travel essentials are. Of course, you’ll still want your regular items but now that COVID is a reality, you should add these goodies into your bag as well. Leave the fear of travel at home because we’ve got you covered.
Masks
Surprise surprise! Although this may seem obvious, the COVID masking game has surely evolved since March. If you are planning an outdoor adventure, or a trip that will involve spending time in the cold (who are we kidding- the upcoming Canadian months WILL be cold), Under Armour’s new fleece mask will keep you warm in and outside of the chalet. Fashion doesn’t have to be sacrificed amidst the pandemic. Lots of stores and brands have a wide variety of fashion-forward masks that will keep you safe and stylish in any Canadian city.
If you’re travelling by plane to any destination, it’s required by most airlines to travel with a medical-grade mask as opposed to a cloth mask. It is always a safe bet to have a few medical masks with you throughout your travels in case a certain venue or mode of transport requires it.
Hand Sanitizer
Remember when hand sanitizer was sold out everywhere? Luckily we’re now able to get our hands on it for all of our travel needs. Whether you use it on your plane ride, Uber trip or simply after opening the door to a restaurant, having a mini bottle of hand sanitizer with you at all times will ease your mind of contracting potential germs on your hands. Our fave is this one by Aesop — it does the trick and smells citrusy and woody.
COVID Alert App
Stay alert throughout your trip with the COVID Alert App. If you’re exposed to a positive COVID case, you will be notified through the app prior to potentially showing symptoms.
Wipes
Stay safe on your trip by wiping down surfaces, like the plane seat or the restaurant door with germ killing disinfecting wipes. These wipes from Seventh Generation are better for the environment than your run of the mill wipes and these even have a pleasant minty scent.
Touchless Door Opener
Let’s keep those hands clean! Avoid touching buttons and opening doors with this Eco + Amour tool. This baby attaches to your key ring and can even be used as a stylus to scroll through your phone so you don’t even need to touch the screen. Brilliant, right?
Reusable cutlery
Although you can fit a lot in your travel bags, you can’t bring your kitchen. Long story short, if you feel uncomfortable eating at restaurants right now, bringing your own reusable utensils like this one from Tentree will provide you with some peace of mind.
