Let me preface this piece by first saying that if you’ve never had tahdig, then you’re in for a real treat and if you have, then you know that making it can be a bit tricky. However, the geniuses over at Our Place — you know, the makers of the frying pan that casually blew up the internet — have just released a brilliant tool to help us out. I should probably give a brief description of what tahdig even is. It’s an Iranian rice dish that’s flavoured with saffron and the rice gets deliciously crispy on the bottom. Trust me – it’s worth making and the crispy bits will be fought over by everyone at your table. In summation, tahdig needs to be on the menu for your next dinner, even if it’s just yourself that enjoys it.

As I mentioned, making tahdig can be a bit tricky. I’ve made it myself a few times and it either ends up way too underdone on the bottom or savagely burnt. However, Our Place has your back because now, making tahdig is simpler than ever thanks to their Tahdig Trio.
The Tahdig Trio consists of their Noosh-e-Joon Platter which is the first-of-its-kind. It’s specially made for tahdig but also any recipe that requires a sometimes-complicated 180° flip. If flipping upside-down cakes or similar recipes out of a pan, join the club but the only way to get past it, is to keep doing it. Traditionally, you tie a tea towel around the lid of the pot that your tahdig is in but now you can say farewell to your make-shift dish rag cover.
