Soundtracks are cool, but have you listened to whale sounds in real time while traveling? American Queen Voyages is inviting guests to experience just that this summer. The Canada to USA cruise, which will move from British Columbia to Alaska, will also have Dr. Michelle Fournet on board. Dr. Fournet is not only a renowned acoustic ecologist, but she’s also the director of the Sound Science Research Collective.

Dr. Fournet’s team has also partnered with California Polytechnic State University researchers for this unique journey. So how does it all work? Sound Science Collective hydrophones will be handed over to the visitors to help them listen the sounds of the whales.
They’ll also be informed about whale tracking, along with other activities, as part of the experience. The maiden voyage will take place from Vancouver to Sitka during the summer.
The American Queen Voyages’ Ocean Victory ship is an 186-seater, with the cruise lasting about 12 days. There’s also the chance to learn about and look out for other marine wildlife.
