The tourism boards of each city—Destination Toronto, Ottawa Tourism, and Tourisme Montréal, respectively—are working in tandem on the campaign, marking the first time the three organizations have collaborated. The goal: to engage tourists not only from the constituent cities, but from all across Canada.
City Friends with Benefits has a simple premise; the three cities have joined together to attract tourists, and wash the taste of isolation out of everyone’s mouths. From the European charm of Montreal’s architecture, to the hustle and bustle of Toronto’s busy nightlife, there’s something for every type of tourist to enjoy. To boot, the tourism boards have partnered with VIA Rail and Air Canada, who are offering a 20% discount on trips between the participating cities.
The program is centered around, as the site describes it, “Canada’s favorite threesome.” The tongue-in-cheek phrase refers to Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto – a trio of metropolises tailor made to take your breath away. If you live nearby, consider paying them a visit. If you don’t, amazement is only a train or plane ticket away.
