Piedmont
The geography of Piedmont is mostly mountainous with extensive areas of gorgeous hills making it ideal for grape growing. L’Art Park La Court – an open air art vineyard gallery and is one of the very first Italian examples of land art that sits among the vineyards for all to walk through and enjoy. The largest open-air museum in a vineyard developed on a UNESCO World Heritage site, this artistic experience sits on twenty hectares of one of the most prestigious vineyards of the Barbera d’Asti crus. The park is a living cultural center dedicated to the four earth elements: Earth, Water, Air, Fire. This unique and ultra-memorable open-air museum allows you to truly understand the inextricable symbiosis between art, land, and wine culture, while sipping on a glass of Barbara d’Asti red wine.
L’Art Park La Court gathers together the work and sculptures of internationally renowned artists from Ugo Nespolo to Emanuele Luzzati to Chris Bangle, organized in an immersive and fairytale, artistic path, in the background of breathtaking Italian vineyard landscapes. Michele Chiarlo has been growing grapes since 1956. With vineyards spanning in the finest winemaking areas of Langhe, Monferrato and Gavi, vineyards grow exclusively in the hills that are situated in the most historic and prestigious areas. These vineyards express the unique terroir and create truly authentic tasting wines, unreplicable anywhere else in the world!
With an approach of integrated sustainability, Michele Chiarlo cares and takes care of the environment around them. A key part of their philosophy is implementing ethical actions and practices to improve the sustainability of the whole supply chain. The winery also highly regards a focus on the protection of the environment making it fertile for future generations. This includes practices which provide for the safeguarding of the soil, the vines and the people who work them, attempting to preserve the biodiversity and equilibrium of the ecosystem. They prioritize natural fertilization, cover cropping, green manure with nutritious extracts, meticulous green operations, targeted, never excessive, qualitative thinning, carried out vineyard by vineyard, parcel by parcel, strain by strain in accordance with an artisanal philosophy.
VIVA is the project of sustainable wine culture made up of several of the most important wineries in Italy. Michele Chiarlo, beginning in 2011, was among the first companies to join when the programme was already in the pilot project stage. The goal of VIVA is to monitor and assess the entire production chain, its purpose is to identify and develop tools for a low impact corporate model, not only in terms of agricultural practice, but in the context of global, regional and community production. Since the 2010 harvest, our Barolo Cerequio has been certified VIVA Sustainable Wine. From 2016, all Michele Chiarlo Grand Crus will be VIVA certified.
The Art Park La Court is a living cultural center and each year it promotes and supports a rich calendar of events, exhibitions and cultural events dedicated to the personalities of Piedmont and Italy who have left their mark on the history, culture and custom of society.
