It’s the season of wanderlust-inspiring social media posts that showcase the best of Italy – from the comforting pasta and wine to the forever breathtaking scenery. We’ve said it before; after the past year and a half we’ve had – especially in the lockdown-riddled Canada – if you have the means, there’s no better time to splurge on travel than on your next trip.
This brings us to the stunning new Borgo Santandrea, the latest luxury hotel to open on Italy’s Amalfi Coast – the first in the postcard-perfect region in fifteen years.

Borgo Santandrea
Here, you can expect soul-soothing sea views, Michelin-starred chef-made food, and garden terraces bursting with Amalfi fruits and lush greenery. If it sounds dreamy, you’re not alone.
After a meticulous three-year construction process (i.e. a complete overhaul), the new cliffside hotel sits 90 metres above sea level and offers a refined vibe of mid-century design meets distinct Mediterranean flare. After much anticipation, the immaculate hotel opened its doors to guests in July.
Borgo Santandrea features its own private beach, jetty, oceanfront pool, exclusive beach club, a gym, two bars, and three restaurants that serve Mediterranean food with varying modern twists. Each of the 29 guest rooms and 16 suites offers uninterrupted, memory-ingraining views of the sea and the ancient fisherman’s hamlet of Conca dei Marini thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows.
For those serious about the splurge, Borgo Santandrea also offers a deluxe suite with its own garden and private pool.
An Exclusive Dining Experience
The hotel’s romantic wining and dining spots are located between the highest points of the hotel. Under the direction of Michelin-starred Executive Chef Crescenzo Scotti, the three restaurants, La Libreria, Alici, and The Beach Club, will make use of local products and ingredients.
Each dining spot offers its own appeal. Alici is a gorgeous patio restaurant where your meal comes with a side of views; La Libreria doubles as a library by day and refined watering hole by night; and The Beach Club offers a breezy, sun-drenched beach vibe.
The Orlacchio Brothers
The hotel is a passion project of the Orlacchio brothers, two Italian brothers with hospitality roots on the island of Ischia. Throughout the breezy property, guests will find white and blue hues, alongside geometric hand-painted tiles, antique furniture, and hand-crafted pieces by local Amalfitano artisans.
Inspired by the building’s origins, which date back to the 1960s, the owners sought to bring attention to the original Mid-Century features while creating a ‘home’ that was unmistakably Italian.
“We are so excited to open the doors to Borgo Santandrea. It has been a beautiful challenge, over the past three years, to restore the property and I feel proud to have brought so many talented artisans and iconic Italian brands together to create a one-of-a-kind hotel that is truly ‘Made in Italy’,” said Maurizio Orlacchio, General Manager and co-owner. “We feel Borgo Santandrea is much more a home than a hotel.”
With a theme of timeless, high-quality, and Italian-made design features throughout, notable talking points include things like 31 different types of geometric hand-made and hand-painted tiles, inspired by regional traditions, classical design, and Gio Ponti; Italian marble selected from Puglia, Veneto and Tuscany; the finest Italian textiles, hand-blown Venetian glass lamps,
and rare vintage items for each guest room and suite.
Whether you’re partial to the hotel’s impressive design elements, photo-worthy views, or memorable cuisine, this looks like the type of dreamy spot that would be worth every cent.
