Can you ever have too much Mexican cuisine? We don’t think so and that’s exactly why we’re so excited to share the news that Alimentaria Mexicana has just soft-launched on Vancouver’s Granville Island.
Mexican-Canadian Chef and Entrepreneur Ernesto Gomez and his team are ready to take you on a culinary journey through Mexico to experience the classic techniques and products of Mexican and local artisans in an authentic way that pays homage to their origins.

“We’re excited to give our guests a sneak peek into a project that will celebrate the traditions, depth and knowledge of cooking techniques used by communities across Mexico,” says Gomez in a release. “We’re not cutting any corners and we’re making everything in a traditional way. We can’t wait to take our guests on an immersive journey through my mother country and its rich culinary history, but in a way that’s approachable and fun.”
Expect to dine on bright, flavourful dishes like Halloumi & Grilled Cactus, Sopes with Bone Marrow, Mushrooms Birria and Beet Ceviche as well as signature salsas and accompaniments. All menu items are intended to be enjoyed family-style and shared around the table.
Want to come and check it out? During the soft opening period, Alimentaria will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. with limited lunch and dinner reservations available.
